Week 2 with DUPA
End of Year Exhibition Submissions Open
Very exciting news folks; submissions are now open for our annual End of Year Exhibition! This is always our greatest event of the year, as it is when we showcase the very best of the talent present within our society. The End of Year Exhibition, which is scheduled for mid-March, is a fantastic opportunity to see your photographs displayed to a professional standard, so we strongly encourage you to submit your work.
We are accepting a minimum of 4 photographs per submission, which all centre around a theme of your choosing. You may also suggest how your work should be displayed. Be as creative or conservative as you like. The DUPA committee will review all submissions and decide which to showcase.
Email your submission to email@example.com with the subject line “EYE 2016”. Please include your name, chosen theme and the titles and/or captions for each photograph. Good luck!
In addition, we are also contemporaneously seeking submissions for a photo book publication. All submissions to the exhibition will be considered for the publication. If you would rather be considered for the exhibition or photo book alone please specify this in your email submission.

DUPA Library – Book of the Week
DUPA has an extensive library of books including photo books, instructional books for digital and analogue photography, and some city guides.
As a DUPA member you get free access to the library! The full catalogue is available on our website at http://duphotos.net/library/
If you would prefer to come down and browse the books you can do so during office hours http://duphotos.net/about-dupa/committee-room/
We’ll be choosing a ‘book of the week’ from our library every week from now on. This week’s book is from the world’s most famous photography agency, Magnum.
Magnum Magnum edited by Brigitte Lardinois.
“Since its founding in 1947 by Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger, and David “Chim” Seymour, Magnum Photos, the legendary cooperative, has powerfully chronicled the peoples, cultures, events, and issues of the time.
Magnum Magnum brings together the best work, celebrating the vision, imagination, and brilliance of Magnum photographers, both the acknowledged greats of photography in the twentieth century―among them, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, Eve Arnold, Marc Riboud, and Werner Bischof―and the modern masters and rising stars of our time, such as Martin Parr, Susan Meiselas, Alex Webb, and Donovan Wylie.”
Spotlight: Ordinary Committee Members
We are very aware of our own transience as a committee. Given that most of us are final year students, we have started to think about next year’s committee when we are gone. We hope you’d consider joining the committee next year. We’ll hold an AGM where the new committee will be selected towards the end of term. In anticipation of this, we will detail one committee member’s role each week. This week is the role of Ordinary Committee Member. OCMs take on a wide variety of general roles in assisting named committee members with their roles, and helping out on other projects. It is a great starting point to join the committee and experience the operation of DUPA from the inside.
Office Hours for Hilary term
Gearóid and Andrew have scheduled office hours every week. If you have a question about DUPA, need some general advice on your camera, want to buy film, or simply want some photography chats come on down to our room in the Atrium during office hours.
