WEEK 5 WITH DUPA

WEEK 5 WITH DUPA

Hello DUPA Darlings,

Welcome back to another week. Week 5 we’ll be bringing you the next instalment of our DSLR classes as well as a new exhibition to submit to!

DUPA CLASS NO. 3: THE RULES OF PHOTOGRAPHY

This week we have the third installment in our DSLR series with photographer Darragh Stewart. In this class Darragh will refresh briefly what we have learned so far. We will go through the rules of photogrpahy and add to our understanding of some of the fundamental concepts of photographic composition. This includes: visual tension, leading lines and the rule of thirds.
We’ll also learn about how camera settings may be adjusted to be technically incorrect but compositionally perfect.

We’ll be in 4050B in the Arts Block this week, at the earlier slot of 6pm. See you then!

IDENTITY AND DISCRIMINATION; AN EXHIBITION

DUPA are teaming up with Suas Trinity to host a student exhibition on ‘Identity and Discrimination’ to build on STAND’s 8×8 Festival photo exhibition that is coming up camous from 15th – 20th Oct. This student exhibition hopes to put a spotlight on issues surrounding LGBT rights, women’s rights, ageism, health status, immigrant rights, ethnicity, religion, poverty and the likes.

We are calling on students and staff to submit their photographs and have their images printed to a high quality and displayed during an exhibition as part of the 8X8 Festival.

Here’s how it works:
– You can submit up to 4 images.
– Photos should be no less than 1MB
– JPEG or PNG only
– They don’t have to be new, we want to showcase the photographer just as much as their work! If you have some older shots you feel are some of your best, send them our way.
– You can suggest how your work should be displayed.
– We will consider all submissions
– You can submit up until 4pm on Friday 12th October

Please email your submission to exhibitions@duphotos.net with the subject line “Identity/Discrimination”

Please remember to include your name in your submission!

You know we love you,

DUPA xx
